This book of Jewish liturgical music (shul music) was first published in 1899 and is still probably the best source book for 'beginners'. All the arrangements are for SATB. In most shuls today, tenors take the soprano and tenor parts, while baritones take the alto parts.
Consent has been received from the United Synagogue of Great Britain to publish this book on the internet, the first of many. I would like to thank the United Synagogue and also our liaison, Victor Tunkel, for permitting this internet version which is a major step forward in allowing shul choirs around the world to share a heritage that has been virtually a sole British Commonwealth phenomenon for over a century.
NB. 'Hotspots' have been inserted on the page numbers in the index. Just click on the page number to jump to that page.
Any contributions of time or music, and suggestions, will be gratefully accepted.
